Herschel Junior Walke is an American former NFL football running back. Walker launched his first political campaign in Georgia's 2022 Senate election and won the Republican nomination with 68% of the vote. He faced incumbent Democratic senator Raphael Warnock in the general election. Neither candidate received more than 50% of the vote; consequently, a runoff is scheduled for December 6, 2022. 1. The Abortion Lie: Reporting from The Daily Beast, including receipts and a “Get well” card, revealed that Walker, who opposes abortions without exceptions, in fact, paid for his girlfriend’s abortion 2. The Education Lie: Walker’s campaign claimed that Walker has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and graduated in the top 1 percent of his class from the University of Georgia. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution looked into the claim and found it was false. After that, Walker admitted he never actually graduated. 3. The First Charity Lie. Walker claimed to have founded a nonprofit veterans’ charity called "Patriot Support." In reality, the organization is a "for-profit program" run by Universal Health Services, one of the biggest hospital companies. Walker had actually acted as a spokesman for the company and was paid a salary of $331,000 last year, according to the Associated Press. 4. The “I Was a Cop” Lie. Walker has claimed that he had some kind of extensive experience in law enforcement. In 2017 he said he worked as a police officer with the Cobb County Police Department. In 2019, according to The Washington Post, Walker said he trained with the FBI. “I worked for law enforcement, y’all didn’t know that either,” Walker said, according to the Post. “I spent time at Quantico at the FBI training school. Y’all didn’t know I was an agent?” But a spokesperson for the Cobb County Police Department told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that there were no records of Walker working for the department. 5. The Black Vote: “Herschel’s not getting the Black vote because Herschel forgot where he came from,” - former Walker coach Dixon explained. “He’s not part of the Black community.” “One candidate is a qualified senator. The other is Herschel Walker.” - Jones, a Georgia Auto Body Repair Supervisor "It’s always been my opinion that white conservatives only embrace Black conservatives because Black conservatives provide a “Black friend” effect that brings at least a smidgen of diversity to the “old white man” party that is the GOP." - Zack Linly "I know an Oreo Cookie when I see one." - tony eason
