This is one of the very few sketches I was able to do from the comfort of my hotel room balcony! The modern, beehive-shaped Kigali Convention Centre, fast becoming an iconic symbol of the city, shares a site with the Radisson Blu Hotel, which I chose to stay in for that very reason, as well as this one: after silverback gorilla trekking in Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of the Congo two days prior, and then gorilla trekking again the very next day at Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda, I was painfully sore and absolutely exhausted -- the last thing I wanted to do was leave my hotel room for a sketch!
