The Navy’s Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruisers (CG) are multi-role warships with the ability to launch Tomahawk cruise missiles to strike strategic or tactical targets and fire long-range antiaircraft missiles for defense against aircraft or anti-ship missiles. Ticonderoga-class helicopters and sonar systems allow them to perform antisubmarine missions.
