She has been called the "Audubon of Botany." She spent her life extensively traveling throughout the American West and the Canadian Rockies meticulously painting the flora she explored. She became an active mountain climber, outdoors woman, and photographer. Walcott became the first women to accomplish the over 10,000 feet ascent of Mount Stephen.
