Fossil Fuels are bad for your ta-tas. That’s pretty much it. That’s why Honor the Earth is introducing the Pipeline Free Breast campaign, as a part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Last year, Baker Hughes, who makes the enormous drill bits for the fracking industry, introduced pink drill bits for breast cancer awareness month, and donated $l00,000 for the second year in a row to Susan G. Komen, the best-funded breast cancer organization in the U.S.  This “pink-washing” hides a dirty fact: fossil fuels are bad for your health. Let’s get real: Pipelines, Fracking and the Tar Sands are Bad for your breasts. Many of the chemicals used, produced and emitted during the extraction, transportation, refining, and use of fossil fuels are known carcinogens. Benzene, benzopyrene, and other polyaromatice hydrocarbons (PAHs) are listed by the WHO and other health agencies as dangerous cariconogens. These chemicals are also persistant in the environment, building up over the generations in animal fat. The rates of rare cancers have risen in the Alberta Tar Sands and in Kalamazoo and at the sites of other oil spills. Save the Ta-tas, end fossil fuel dependence. #nopipelinesnoproblem
