Girl With A Fan And Two Children In Elegant Dress 19th Century - From The Continental School This is a turn of the century genre scene of a young lady about the age of fifteen sitting on a carved stone bench accompanying two younger children in a park or garden. The young lady is wearing a white dress with wide golden stripes that is accented with a blue ribbon bow sash around her waist, a blue bow on the center chest of the dress, blue ribbons on the shoulders and a blue ribbon tied to the back of her bundled hair. She also has a black velvet choker wrapped around her neck with the ends crossing over on to the upper portion of her chest; and is wearing black low heel shoes. She is holding a wooden fan in her left hand with her elbow resting on her red cloak that is placed on the seat and over the back of the bench. One of the children is a young girl, about the age of seven that is sitting on the teens lap; and she is wearing a white dress with two pink stripes that run down the front on either side of three pink bows of decreasing size; she is also wearing white socks, and black shoes with pink bows on the top. The other child is a boy of about nine years of age, and he his hopping off the ground on one foot waving is black hat in the air. He is wearing a white ruffled collar and cuff shirt, a blue waist high jacket with stripes down the front and at the shoulders with an orange scarf tied around his neck with the edges going down toward his waist area. He has a red sash tied around his waist with gold tassels on the edges, brown knee high pangs with tan stripes running along the outside edge and tan knee high socks. By the boys right leg we can see a flowering bush and behind him mire bushes and small trees of brown and green colors; as well as small bright green trees behind the stone bench. A little distance off behind the trio is a large pedestal with a sculpted urn on it, that has some weeds growing over the top; and behind that various tall trees set against a cloudy blue sky.
