Originally a motte and bailey castle built by the Normans between 1070 to 1080.The wooden structure was replaced with stone in the 12th century by Robert Marmion. Visitors to the castle included the KIngs Henry 1st, 2nd and 3rd, James 1st and Edward the 2nd. England UK.
