By Ted Raynor Turnagain Arm is a narrow, shallow, and muddy inlet that penetrates far into Southcentral Alaska from the Gulf of Alaska. It is one of two narrow branches of Cook Inlet, the other being Knik Arm. Turnagain Arm is subject to very strong winds and the second highest tides in the world.
