Purple Thistle Wildflower Botanical Art is a design with a floral theme of a thistle native to the Mediterranean. A semi-desert flora, leaves are spirally arranged, deeply lobed, and have sharp spines. The flowers are purple, produced in a dense flowerhead. In the Greek island of Crete, notobasis syriaca is called agavanos (αγκάβανος), its tender shoots are peeled and eaten raw by the local people.
