Sunflower suffrage color Symbolism 19th Amendment Poster Affiliate icon

The golden yellow color associated with the American suffrage movement was in honor of the state flower of Kansas, the sunflower. Women of Kansas wore yellow ribbons to support the first piece of serious suffrage legislation to be put to a vote in 1867. It did not pass but the color became symbolic of that first step towards equality.
