From www.railphotoexpress.biz Gateway to New England, New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad The New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad (commonly known as the New Haven), (reporting mark NH) was a railroad that operated in the northeast United States from 1872 to 1969 which served the states of Connecticut, New York, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts. Its primary connections included Boston and New York. In 1925, NH operated 1,919-mile route , plus 279-mile operated by Central New England Railway; in 1967, it operated 1,546-mile route and 3,343-miles of track. In 1969 it became part of The Penn Central Railroad.
