"Croaker" Car Magnet
You might think that an organization called The Ancient Order of Croaking Frogs, founded in Quarryville in the 1920s, would be on the skids these days. Many older social clubs are declining as younger people find other things to do. But that's not the case! Yep! The Croaking Frogs are gaining members. They are in grand croaking form. This sort of fraternal silliness is still reflected in the club's headquarters at 300 S. Park Ave. in Quarryville. It is filled with various frog figures, many of which periodically delight young guests by croaking. Membership is pushing 900, according to Jim Lafferty, the organization's master croaker. That number has tripled from about 300 members in 1997, the last time someone took a look at the Croaking Frogs.
