Three Sad Boys Poster

I have always been haunted by this photo in my collection. The expressions on their faces are so sad. The only thing I know is their names are Homer, Curtis and James Hayes. I believe this was taken in West Virginia, but not sure why I think this. The subject matter reminds me of Dorothea Lange's photos shot during the depression.
