Pulcino della Minerva and the Parthenon, Piazza Minerva, Rome, Italy An Egyptian obelisk was found in the Dominican monks' garden in Rome in the 17th century. The obelisk was incorporated into a monument designed by Lorenzo Bernini and realized by Ercole Ferrata. The obelisk is supported by an elephant. The design was inspired by a novel of Francesco Colonna.
