Hamels Camel Limerick Postcard Affiliate icon

An adventurous person named Hamel Travelled thousands of miles on a camel. No provisions he took, But for bird's eggs he'd look, Which he'd boil for himself and his camel. An illustrated limerick from a 1908 children's book. In the first illustration, Hamel, who has a long beard and is wearing a turban, stands on tiptoe on the saddle of his camel. He has a saucepan in one hand and with the other he is plucking an egg out of a bird's nest. The camel is weighed down by luggage, pots and pans and a black cast iron stove. In the second illustration, they are seated on the sand surrounded by platters bearing eggcups with boiled eggs in them and Hamel is feeding his camel with a spoon.
