Suffragettes Protesting - The White House 1918 Poster
- from our Affiliates
This early 20th century US History photo features members of the Women's suffrage movement having a bonfire on the sidewalk right in front of the White House while berating President Woodrow Wilson for only paying lip service to their cause. During his first tenure, President Woodrow Wilson's response towards the women's suffrage movement had been somewhat lukewarm, but this changed when he publicly endorsed the cause and signed a suffrage amendment in January 1918.
