This early 20th century Women’s Social History photo features nurses marching to support women's suffrage near the US Capitol as part of the Suffragist Parade that had been organized by Alice Paul and marked the first major national event for the movement. Suffragists and supporters, numbering between 5000 and 10,000, marched down Pennsylvania Avenue, the day before President Woodrow Wilson's inauguration. Photo taken on March 3, 1913.
