“Contes de ma mère l’Oye”, Tales of Mother Goose: This 1695 illustration became the frontispiece to Charles Perrault’s 1697 manuscript titled Histoires ou Contes du temps passé or "Tales of the Past." On the door, in the painting, are the French words, “Contes de ma mère l’Oye”, which translates to the English as "Tales of Mother Goose." What a neat find!
