Built in 1945 by George Croft, originally for a Christchurch organist and later transferred to the church in Cashmere, the St Augustine's organ is the largest 2 manual pedal pipe organ in Christchurch with four 16 foot pedal stops and 1279 pipes. On the organ's move in 1966 to the church, beautiful New Zealand kauri wood from old church pews was used for the pipe chests. In addition, two ranks of 16 foot pipes from the old Auckland Town Hall organ were used in the rebuild. This is one of the few remaining operable two manual organs left in Christchurch following the devastating earthquakes in 2010 and 2011.
