Suzhou Street -Beijing Summer Palace- Situated at the foot of Xishan Mountain in Beijing, the summer palace, originally called the Garden of Clear Ripples, began to be build in 1750, the 15th year during emperor Qianlong’s reign. Covering an area of 2.9 million square meters, the Summer Palace is chiefly formed by the Longevity Hill and the Kumming Lake. In the Summer Palace there is the Suzhou Street (Suzhou is typical beautiful city of rivers and lakes in the south of the Yangtze River), the Garden of Harmonious Interests (a small garden inside a garden), and the longest Long Corridor in the world. The unique combination of natural beauty and exquisite architecture fully embodies the building style of ancient China’s imperial gardens. The Summer Palace ranks the first in well-kept imperial gardens throughout the world. - Situated in the center of the Rear Lake and originally called Business Street, the Suzhou Street was build in the style of southern China towns. The 300 meters long street was build along the river bank with more than 60 shops including teahouses, restaurants, pharmacies, banks, and etc. It was the place where the emperor, empress, and concubines took a stroll in leisure. - Designed by Norman Reutter
