Controversial poster by outsider artist Norbert Kox portrays imminent fall of civilization. Hurricanes, tsunamis, energy shortages, bird flu, pedophilia, rogue nations with nukes, political and religious tensions, big box retailers, and numerous other worrisome plagues are depicted in the Art Directors Club's 86th Annual [2007] Call for Entries. Creator of this freeze-frame of havoc is outsider artist Norbert Kox, known for his obsessively religious and apocalyptic imagery. Kox doesn't normally do commissioned work, but agreed because the concept coincided with his worldview. Raw Vision magazine, an outsider art publication, says that Kox "challenges the spiritual beliefs of his viewers." It adds, "using vivid imagery as his tool of instruction, (he) creates what he terms 'apocalyptic visual parables.'" (ADC Press Release, November 2006). The posters were edited and printed at 22 ¾” x 34” for ADC, while the original painting is 30” x 45 ¾”. Prints on canvas or paper are now available from the smaller size of 11” x 16”, all the way up to 46” x 70” (3-ft 10-in x 5-ft 10-in) which is larger than life. Framing is also available. Just make your settings for size, media, frame style, etc, and the price will be automatically calculated. Prices range from $9.95 to $874.62. Don’t worry that it says Zazzle across the image. That is just an online watermark and does not appear on the print. (If you have a serious interest in collecting, the original painting is available from the artist. Inquire to Norbert H. Kox, email: nhkox@yahoo.com )
