Fisherman's Memorial, Unalaska City, Alaska Postcard

On the shore of Illiuliuk Bay of Unalaska Island lies the downtown area of the City of Unalaska. At the eastern end of the beach is the city's Memorial Park. The Fisherman's Memorial statue along with other memorial statues was placed there to honor the fishermen lost at sea. Robert Freeman was the author of the inscription, which talks of how when men are lost at sea on earth, they find themselves sailing on heaven's seas, headed for a distant shore where they will be welcomed home.
