Giant Sequoia Biggest Tree Ever Cut Down Postcard Affiliate icon

This postcard has facts about a giant sequoia, named the General Noble Tree in honor of General John Willock Noble who served in the Civil War. It holds the World's Record as the biggest tree ever cut down. The tree was cut down in 1892 (sadly, it was not protected by federal law at that time), was exhibited at the Chicago World's Fair in 1893, and then displayed as a tourist attraction in Washington D.C. until it was removed in 1932 due to decay. The stump, the Chicago Stump, remains in the Giant Sequoia National Monument in California.
