Jenny Nyström, Barn i släde (Children in a sleigh). Watercolor and gouache. Model for the cover image of the Swedish Christmas magazine Julklappen (1909). Poster inspired by a fabulous Christmas painting by Swedish artist Jenny Nyström (1854 – 1946). The picture shows two young children in a festive sleigh, drawn by two magnificent horses. The horses, adorned with plumes, tassels, and necklaces made of lots and lots of bells (imagine the sound!), appear to be running at a fast pace. In the background is a beautiful winter forest, with snow covered tree branches. Behind the trees the sun is setting, coloring the sky in a saturated orange color. It is probably Christmas Eve, one of the children has a lot of packages in his or her arms. The source file is quite good and also very large, 4271 x 6447 pixels. This means you can choose any poster size that you like, even the largest (XL). Digital edits (2020) mainly to make some room for texts and other design elemens at the bottom of the painting.
