The Humuhumunukunukuapua'a or humuhumu fish is a brightly colored reef fish of the Western Pacific Ocean. A member of the triggerfish family, the humuhumu fish displays a geometric pattern of colors including tangerine, orange, yellow, blues, pearl white, and black. The Humuhumu fish is the state fish of Hawaii. It is sometimes said that the Hawaiian name Humuhumunukunukuapua'a is "longer than the fish." The species is also known as reef, rectangular, or wedge-tail triggerfish.
