The Munich Metro network has a total length of 103.1 km with a total of 100 underground stations and multi-level intersection stations double. In the whole network, the maximum line speed is 80 km/h. Unlike other networks, there is no continuous night operation except during the night from New Year's Eve to New Year's Eve and the carnival days; the rest of the company is from about 1 to 4 am, during the nights from Friday to Saturday and from Saturday to Sunday from about 2 to 4 am. With the exception of lines U5 and U6, all lines are completely in tunnels. The U5 line enters the surface just before the southern end of the line in Neuperlach South, the U6 in the northern section between the Student City and Garching-Hochbrück and on a short section between Garching and Garching Research Center. On all lines, trains usually run at 10 minutes, at peak times also at 5 minutes, but sometimes not on the full route. At the start of operation and in late traffic after midnight, trains usually run only in 20 minutes or less. Most long-haul lines (6-wagon trains) operate except for early and late morning traffic, only the U4 line and the U7 line between Neuperlach Center and Olympia shopping center are served by short-haul trains (4-wagon trains).
