Adaptation of a Byzantine mosaic depicting The Miracle of Jesus Feeding the Five Thousand with five loves of bread and two fish, as told in all four Christian Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. From an ancient Byzantine Church of the 5th century, located at Tabgha, on the northwest shore of the Sea of Galilee in Israel, thought to be the site where Jesus fed the multitudes following the death of John the Baptist. The church was partially destroyed in the 7th century by Arab invaders, but has undergone restoration starting in the 20th century. The pilgrimage site is maintained by Benedictine monks from the Hagia Maria Sion Abbey, also known as Dormition Church, which is located on Mount Zion in Jerusalem.
