Postcard inspired by a fascinating drawing by German artist Adolph von Menzel (Armor chamber fantasy, 1866). I imagine that the first object of the artist was to make the armor plates shine as much as possible and, while doing this, he suddenly get the impulse to breathe some life into the armor. The result is a dynamic group of soldiers, but are they really alive? Faces are left out, and body parts not covered by plates are just suggested. These soldiers do remind me of the kind of ghost warriors you find in modern fantasy literature and movies.
