Postcard with a vintage photo lithograph of Whitby Abbey in North Yorkshire, England from 1895, pictures the ruins of the abbey with a colorful sunrise background and a lake with wading cows in the foreground. Digitally cleaned, enhanced and artistically rendered to resemble pen and ink with watercolors. Whitby Abbey was first established in 657 as a monastery and became one of the most important religious centers in the Anglo-Saxon world. In 1066 a Benedictine community was founded on the site.
