B27 Rose Bourban Roundtable Knights #3 "Old Town,San Diego" This board depicts an adaption of the classic Rogue Dead Guy Ale bottle with some crystal cubist joog a la Juan Ruiz and and even an Edward Barra inspired bottle. Both of those comprise the primary focus of a "narcisistic skate-deadguy-rogue gingham" pattern in that the board itself was screenshot during the design process and then duplicated into its own design. Whilst Rogue Brewery is based in Portland Oregon, you can certainly draw parallels both culturally and esthetically with San Diego. Nonetheless, this qualifies as more San Diego than Portland more to the fact that a craft beer consumed beyond it's birthplace develops a mushroom cloud of its own. That spread of influence could be seen as another form of cubism- where one's footprint is marked by other people's footsteps in different environments and cultures completely. Seeing that as not merely cut and paste post-modernity but rather a true connection of an esthetic via dream geopgraphy- demonstrating that relationship is the particularly "Rosey" aspect of what we are working at here. It doesn't matter if you don't necessarily "see" that. It's preferred if you see something else, then we too can learn something from this creation. A celebration of all that we love. Our "rose" period series, this time in bourbon. Bourbon = all that is bespoke, caramel, amarillo, crafted,at times smokey, yet also containing color, age, form. We wanted to see if the bourbon influence takes us somewhere different to the Rose Custard form of crystal cubism we presented in the C27's. The way we sense this could be done would be to create the atmosphere of a physical place without in fact using any imagery from that place in the board design whatsoever. We don't necessarily have that place in mind during the design. It is not an open book quiz for our design team,it is a challenge. It is in that way, blindfolded of implied meaning, in that the designer may guess along the way what is being constructed but the blindfold only lifts when the Snake Charmaz have finished with their trims, nicks and tags. The Snake Charmaz tag crew (Toga77's) often completely transform the meaning due to their own interpretation of "Rose" being Hannah Hoch photomontage inspired graffiti- they have also taken to using microsoft word as well as simulated spray cans in another indication of the "Sliding Cubist" sensibilities taking their own unique watercourse in their street- brat-like esthetic. This is very much a process based series. The B27's take longer to dream than design. The final pieces as they go into place are really the fun bit as the "work" (if you can call such a passion work) is in the scrapbooking, bower birding and curating of those clippings. The Hannah Hoch rendering at the end is the lifting of the blindfold and only then does a place spring to mind. For those that take the extra step of purchasing one of these beauties, i say you can rename it whatever place you think of when you look at it. These names perhaps are working titles then for those that end up taking one of these home and making them their own. We also encourage further decoration/vandalization of our boards once purchased. You have permission to do what you like on an artistic level once you physically have it- we cannot stop you, au contraire, we encourage it! Other board designers can screenshot this and try and do something with it too...but be warned if we catch you the snakecharmaz will vandalise everything you have ever designed and sell it as their own. Sounds cool actually.
