This is a Vintage Statue of Liberty Poster by Courier and Ives, America's embodiment of Freedom, The Statue of Liberty stands on Liberty Island in the center of New York Harbor, accessible by ferry boat from Manhattan New York City. This print of the Statue of Liberty was created by Courier and Ives, as a speculative depiction that was published in 1885, the year before the statue was erected in New York. This depiction of the Statue of Liberty is actually incorrect, as this drawing shows the statue facing south; while the real Statue of Liberty faces east. The Statue of Liberty was designed by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and was dedicated on October 28, 1886 as a gift from France to the United States. The female figure represents Libertas, who was the Roman goddess of freedom. She carries a torch and a law tablet, which has the date of the American Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776 inscribed upon it.
