The 79th Infantry Division was a unit of the United States Army during World War II. It was composed of draftees from Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia and was nicknamed the "Cross of Lorraine" Division. The division saw action in France, Belgium, and Germany, and was awarded two Presidential Unit Citations for its actions in the Battle of the Bulge and the Colmar Pocket.
