Triumphal Arch of Maximilian is the largest woodcut in the world, and at the very top of the drawing beneath the arch is seated Maximilian I, Holy Roman Emperor in full armor holding a globe in his hand, surrounded by symbolic animals as symbols of his great power. The menagerie includes a variety of birds and a double-headed eagle, a rooster, lion, bull, snakes, a faithful dog and rolls of papyrus.
