Contemporary 1916 Bathing Apparel Advertisement Poster Affiliate icon

This advertisement from a leading luxury department store is not as innocent as it looks. It showcases the Maillot style of bathing apparel. At the time (1916) the term Maillot was used to describe tight fitting, one piece swimsuits. Bonwit Teller was founded by Paul Bonwit in 1895 and was located in New York City. In 1897 Edmund Teller became a partner, the store specialized in high-end women's clothing. The store went bankrupt and liquidated in 1990. SOURCE: Wikipedia.
