One of Abbott Handerson Thayer's famous winged figure portraits. Thayer was an American Naturalist artist who specialized in portraits, mostly of women and children, and of many where he added wings for a more angelic effect. Sometimes referred to a as the memorial angel due to its almost a gothic appearance as she appears to be waiting on a gravestone.
