An impressionist/realist portrait of an spiring Parisian actress, Jeanne Demarsy, as the embodiment of Spring. This portrait debuted at the last major public exhibition of Manet's life, the Paris Salon of 1882 - something that rarely happened for Manet as his painitngs were usually not traditional enough and often rejected. This portrait recived rave reviews and was well recieved for the beauty of the suject, the foliage style backdrop and the sytled pose and dress of the model.
