Completed in 1895 and based on an 1813 tale by Sir Walter Scott's "The Bridal of Triermain" that recounts the journey of a knight who seeks to rescue a beautiful maiden, Gyneth, the illegitimate daughter of King Arthur who was doomed by Merlin 500 years previously to an enchanted sleep inside a magic castle.
