This particular artwork is of the most popular paintings of by the French Neoclassical artist William-Adolphe Bouguereau. Completed in 1881 and also known as the Virgin with Angels. The painting depicts a beautiful scene of Christian religous art and resides in the United States at the Forest Lawn Museum in Glendale. In the late 2005 it became the part of an important restoration project in a partnership program with the Getty Center and the high resolution image here is after the restoration work. It is a large life-size painting showing a serene vision of angels serenading the sleeping Jesus in the arms of a graceful young Mary, is one of the most important works by Bouguereau in the United States. Bouguereau's flawless technique, graceful compositions, and poignant portraits made him one of the most popular French artists of the late 1800s hailed for his photographic life like quality.
