One of the more celebrated paintings of John White Alexander, a turn of the century Amerian portrait and decorative artist. Alexander was praised for his flowing lines and masterful brushwork that is evident here in the rich fabric of the young lady's evening gown and the delicate work of her young features as she attends to the adorment of her attire. Completed in 1906 this painting hangs in the MET Museum.
