In the 16th century, Martin Luther helped clarify this fact: Before our final glorification in Heaven, all Christians are considered both righteous through the imputation of Jesus Christ's righteousness, and sinful as all have sinned and fallen short of God's glory. Our sin is forgiven and by the power of the Holy Spirit, we learn to say no to unrighteous deeds and yes to those which are God pleasing, becoming more and more sanctified or holy over the course of our lives serving Christ Jesus. Glory be to God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit!
