This photo was taken in the late evening and the sun had gone behind the hills, throwing this area into shade. This scene is in the Usery Mountain Regional Park in the Tonto National Forest in Mesa, Arizona, just east of Phoenix, and is a very scenic hiking area. The name of this trail is the Pass Mountain Trail. The Sonoran Desert of Arizona is one of the prettiest deserts in the USA and has a wide variety of plants and animals. A magical place, to be sure!
