Woman in Blue at the Hat Shop 1913 August Macke Poster Affiliate icon

German expressionist artist August Macke, part of the group Der Blaue Reiter (The Blue Rider) which included Wassily Kandinsky, Franz Marc, Paul Klee and Gabriele Münter. Influenced by Cubism, his style combined expressionism and fauvism, relying on distortion of color and forms to express moods and feelings, leading into the Avant Garde Movement. Macke's fine art career ended abruptly at age 27 when he was killed at the front in Champagne in September 1914, the second month of World War I. Here we see a woman dressed in blue coat with fur trim in front of a hat shop window. Expressionist Fine Art from the Wall Art Shoppe.
