Great Republic Clipper sailing ship 1900 Randolph M. Cooley & Co. was a New York firm that acted as an agent for the Merchant's Express Line. The firm was located at 118 Water St., Cor. Wall, Tontine Building. Randolph M. Cooley & Co. was in business around 1850. The period of clipper ships lasted from the early 1840s to the early 1890s. At the 'crest of the clipper wave' year of 1852, there were 200 clippers rounding Cape Horn. Up to 400 clipper ships were built, between 1840s to the early 1890 The only intact survivor is Cutty Sark, which was preserved as a museum ship in 1954 at Greenwich.
