The 506th Infantry Regiment, originally designated the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment (506th PIR) during World War II, is a Army light infantry regiment, in the 101st Airborne Division with a storied lineage covering action in World War II, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan. The 506th "Easy Company" gained widespread recognition by virtue of the 2001 HBO miniseries Band of Brothers.
