This work like many of his others was inspired by the beauty of nature celebrating the celestial beauty of the stars in a purple sky. A regal red haired woman stands on a balcony in front of that sky in a white dress alongside camelias. Full title of the artwork is La Dame, Aux Camelias, Sarah Bernhardt or Lady of the Camelias. Czech artist Alfons Maria Mucha (known in English and French as Alphonse Mucha), is best known for his distinctive Art Nouveau (Modern) artistic style. Mucha (1860-1939), is fondly remembered for his advertisements, paintings, illustrations, theater sets, home furnishings and jewelry designs.
