National flag of France The French national flag is a triband flag with vertical stripes in red, white and blue, and a 2:3 ratio. It is commonly known as the Tricolour (Tricolore in French), and was adopted in 1794. You can personalize the design further if you'd prefer, such as by adding your name or other text, or adjusting the image - just click 'Customize it' to see all the options.
