An aquatint engraving of an original illustration by John James Audubon from the rare Double Elephant Folio Edition of Birds of America as published in the early 1800s. Audubon’s Birds of America consists of 435 hand-colored, life-size prints of 497 bird species. They were printed on Whitman double elephant folio size mold-made paper, the largest paper sheets available at the time.
