Giant Sea Turtle Archelon Postcard. Archelon Ischyros was a giant Cretaceous sea turtle. Archelon means "Ruler Turtle" in Greek, and the lifespan of these creatures may have been up to a century long. They were expected to weigh around 5000lbs (2200kg), and their length was around 13' long and 16' wide. This photo was taken in Jekyll Island at The Georgia Sea Turtle Center.
