Repro Victorian Aesthetic Vase of Sunflowers Sepia Ceramic Tile
- from our Affiliates
This is a stunning tile featuring a central vase of stylized flowers with a geometric background accented with realistically rendered blossoms. It is from the late Victorian period and dates to around 1885. Transferware tiles were originally produced using a decorative technique that was developed in England in the mid-1700s. Although transferware designs were sometimes filled in with color glazes by hand, the design was first fired onto the tile, which made decorative tiles and other items printed using this method more affordable than labor-intensive and more costly hand-painted tiles.
