Unicorn Sea Creature Delft Blue 17th Century Repro Ceramic Tile
This unusual unicorn horned creature is reproduced from one of a set we have of antique Dutch Delft tiles dating to the 1600s. It can be used as a wall or backsplash tile, fireplace surround, coasters, keepsake boxes, and a host of other decorative and gift items. Tiles are available in 4.5 and 6 inch sizes. We love using these in a mix-and-match fashion. (See TessieRay's media pages for some examples.) Delft tiles date back to the 1600s when blue and white Chinese porcelain imports reached the Netherlands, so this is an early design. The popularity of these items was a great influence on Dutch tile artisans and Delft became the center of production for these usually (but not always) blue and white tiles.
